Following her sell-out run at the Adelphi Theatre in London's West End, producers Michael Harrison and David Ian are delighted to announce that three-time Brit nominee and X-Factor winner, Alexandra Burke, will star in the leading role of 'Rachel Marron' in the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of Thea Sharrock's hit musical The Bodyguard www.thebodyguardmusical.com. The tour opens at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton today, 12 February 2015.

Michael Harrison and David Ian have announced that Thea Sharrock's hit production of THE BODYGUARD will make its Scottish Premiere at the King's Theatre Glasgow on Wednesday 4 March 2015.

On 2 June this year, Alexandra Burke will join the cast of the hit West End musical The Bodyguard, to play the leading role of Oscar-nominated superstar Rachel Marron. Burke will play opposite Tristan Gemmill who continues in the role of Rachel's bodyguard, Frank Farmer.

Following the recent confirmation that Beverley Knight will be leading MEMPHIS in the West End, the star has set her departure date from THE BODYGUARD for May 31. Now, The Daily Mail reports that The X Factor's 2008 champion Alexandra Burke will take her place at the Adelphi Theatre, beginning June 2.

The Bodyguard has been announced as one of the 16 West End productions eligible to receive the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award at this year's Olivier Awards 2014 ceremony on 13 April. The Audience Award is the only Olivier Award decided entirely by members of the public. Voting, which is now open, is at www.olivierawards.com/vote On 4 March four shortlisted productions will be announced. The winning show will then be announced, along with the rest of the winners, on the night of the ceremony at the Royal Opera House.

Beverley Knight told the Daily Mail she has extended her run in the West End production of THE BODYGUARD through May 31, 2014. The musical is booking through August 2014.

According to the Daily Mail, Beverley Knight will take over the lead role from Heather Headley in THE BODYGUARD, beginning in September. She will play 'Rachel Marron' opposite Tristan Gemmill. Knight has appeared onstage in school productions of West Side Story and The Mikado.

The Bodyguard, which opened in December last year, recently announced the release of over 250,000 tickets for sale taking booking at the Adelphi Theatre to 28 September 2013. Directed by Thea Sharrock and based on Lawrence Kasdan's 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. film, The Bodyguard has book by Alex Dinelaris.
