School of Rock Tour 2017

Another school year may be coming to an end, but school is just starting at Des Moines Performing Arts as “School of Rock: The Musical” opened up April 30 for a limited 1 week engagement as part of the Willis Broadway Series. This production is not to be missed, especially if you are wanting to introduce your children to the world of theatre. While the main characters in the show may be adults, it's the kids who are the stars of this show.

School of Rock is heading to Jacksonville! The musical, featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will begin on April 16. I had the opportunity to speak with Layne Roate who performs as Ned, the geeky roommate. He is very excited to be in Florida and sharing the musical with audiences in the Sunshine State!

School of Rock - The Musical is based on the movie by the same name originally staring Jack Black is currently playing at DeVos Performance Hall until January 13thin Grand Rapids. Andrew Lloyd Webber added some songs and made it a musical. One part that people find hard to believe is that the kids in the show must be able to play the instruments live. The kids can sing and dance, but it is taken to another level when they are playing instruments better than most adults can perform live on stage, show after show, some of them learning their instruments in only a few years or specifically for their audition for this show!

School of Rock will be arriving to DeVos Place on January 8th-13th in Grand Rapids to kick off the second half of the Broadway Grand Rapids season.  Bringing along with it is a talented cast of kids, who all play all their instruments live on stage every single night! Broadway World Detroit had a chance to catch up with one of the young rock stars on the tour, guitarist Mystic Inscho, who plays Zack Mooneyham, to see what he had to say on tour life, what he enjoys doing in his down time, and even what he'd like to do in the future post School of Rock. 

Rocking the roofs off theatres across the country are a group of mega talented kids who have traded their time in the schoolroom to an adventure touring the country. Leanne Parks plays Katie, the classically trained cellist turned bass guitar genius.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit School of Rock - The Musical has announced new casting for the 2018-19 season. Merritt David Janes, previously from the original Broadway company and the Dewey Alternate on tour, is taking over the role of Dewey. Also joining the cast are Madison Micucci as Patty, Layne Roate as Ned, Gary Trainor as Dewey Alternate, Brian Golub as a swing and Jonathon Timpanelli as an ensemble member.

Music Theatre Philly, a professional performing arts training center in Philadelphia, is pleased to welcome SCHOOL OF ROCK Associate Dance Captain Kara Haller, who will be in Philadelphia for the SCHOOL OF ROCK National Tour, as she leads a special Master Class at the Music Theatre Philly studios at 1201 Spruce Street, Philadelphia. The energy-filled session is at 4:30PM on March 30, 2018.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit School of Rock - The Musical will welcome eight new cast members to the national tour on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Rocking their way across the country will be Alyssa Emily Marvin as Marcy, Grier Burke as Tomika, Vincent Molden as Zack, Huxley Westemeier as Billy and Iara Nemirovsky as Summer. Today, 23 October 2017, rehearsals begin for the new West End cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Olivier award-winning production of School of Rock - The Musical. Stephen Leask, having played the role of alternate Dewey since May this year, will now lead the cast as Dewey Finn from 15 November 2017.
