Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club Revival

On September 16, American Idol alum Adam Lambert stepped into the iconic role of the Emcee in Broadway's Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, taking over from Eddie Redmayne. Watch an interview with Lambert during a recent visit to the Today Show!

Fans of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club know that the party starts early at the August Wilson Theatre. As audiences arrive, approximately 75 minutes before the show starts, the Prologue begins. Listen to the just-released album here.

In this video, I am joined by Broadway performer and drag artist, Marty Lauter, also known as Marcia Marcia Marcia! A graduate of the Boston Conservatory, Marty made their Broadway debut as a vacation swing in Kinky Boots, eventually going on to launch to stardom on season 15 of the hit reality tv drag competition show, RuPaul's Drag Race as their drag persona, Marcia Marcia Marcia.

Eddie Redmayne is a big fan of what Adam Lambert is doing as The Emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. The actor, who departed from the role in the production last month, saw a different side of the show as an audience member after catching a performance earlier this week.

As the Summer theatre season is coming to a close, I think about how fortunate I’ve been to see as many shows as I have this year. I’ve been seeing lots of live theatre as of late, including but not nearly limited to The Prom at Playhouse on Park, The Mystery of Edwin Drood at The Goodspeed Theater, and Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club on Broadway. While I try to see shows as often as I can, really taking the time to see as much as I have been lately has really reminded me of the importance and value of seeing live theatre as a performer myself– something I wanted to cover for this month's topics!

On Tuesday, Eddie Redmayne stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers to discuss Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, which is now playing at the August Wilson Theatre. In Cabaret, Redmayne plays 'The Emcee', a role played by Joel Grey in the 1966 and 1987 Broadway productions.
