Matilda the Musical 2021

A new behind-the-scenes video from the 10th birthday press day was released, featuring interviews with Tim Minchin (music and lyrics), Dennis Kelly (writer), Catherine Mallyon (Executive Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company), Elliot Harper (Miss Trunchbull) and Landi Oshinowo (Mrs Phelps).

As the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of Matilda The Musical heat up in the West End, we spoke to Landi Oshinowo, who plays Mrs Phelps, Matilda's local librarian, at the Cambridge Theatre. Known for roles such as The Colour Purple, Ain't Misbehavin', and Big Fish, Landi told us all about working with children on and off stage, her favourite lines in the show, and why people love it so much. 

As part of the 10th birthday celebrations for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, the show has released new production photography of the London cast.

To celebrate the reopening of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Matilda The Musical last night at the Cambridge Theatre, the show has released a photograph from the curtain call as well as a new video which gives audiences an exclusive look behind-the-scenes at the preparations in the lead up to reopening the multi-award winning musical in the West End.

In the video, Imogen Cole, Alyssa D’Souza, Alex Munden and Zoe Simon can be seen getting to grips with their gymnastic ribbon skills under the watchful eye of Elliot Harper (Miss Trunchbull).

On this day ten years ago, Matilda the Musical had its first performance in Stratford-upon-Avon. To celebrate, the Matilda social media accounts have posted a video flashback featuring the show's original cast performing Revolting Children.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Matilda The Musical has released a video of some of the current young performers along with Miss Honey (Gina Beck) singing 'When I Grow Up' from their homes during theatreland shutdown.

Designed to capture the imagination of children and adults alike, the display is described by the Hamleys team as a?oea heart-warming scene filled with festive cheera?? showcasing a magical snowy landscape.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's West End production of Matilda The Musical has today announced the new adult and child cast, including casting the 100th Matilda to go into the show, worldwide, since the original opening in London. 

Growing up, Matilda was both a book and movie that was well-loved in many households. The peculiarity of the Wormwood household, the magic of Matilda's powers, and the bone-shaking wrath of Miss Trunchbull was felt by readers and audiences near and far. This month, Arts Club brought Roald Dahl's classic tale to life with its production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Playing at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage in Vancouver from May 16th to July 14th, Arts Club does not disappoint with this truly remarkable show.

Following the sold-out success of the previous relaxed performances of Matilda The Musical, the Royal Shakespeare Company will present its sixth at theCambridge Theatre at 3pm on Sunday 9 June.
