Whether on the news or on Netflix, dystopia seems the theme of the year. With a disturbing score from Max Richter, Wayne McGregor’s enthralling and infuriating interpretation of Margaret Atwood’s Maddaddam trilogy is a panoramic work that peers into a future which is all too plausible and none too palatable.

This November, The Royal Ballet presents the European premiere of Royal Ballet Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor’s MADDADDAM, a new three-act ballet inspired by Margaret Atwood’s acclaimed trilogy of novels: Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood and MaddAddam.

Studio Wayne McGregor has announced an ambitious, bold and diverse season for 2024/2025, with a landmark exhibition at London’s Somerset House, a pioneering choreographic installation that will create a startlingly original new form of experience, and anticipated world premieres, tours and revivals.

Company Wayne McGregor returns to Sadler's Wells Theatre this March with two works from Sadler's Wells Associate Artist and visionary choreographer Wayne McGregor CBE. His company performs Autobiography (v95 and v96) on 12 & 13 March and UniVerse: A Dark Crystal Odyssey on 15 & 16 March.

The world premiere of Swan Lake, directed and staged by Ms. Kain, originally planned for June 5 to 21, 2020, will take place June 11 to 27, 2021.

Fane Productions has announced Emmy Award-winner Ann Dowd, acclaimed for her television role as Aunt Lydia on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, as a special guest for Margaret Atwood Live on 10 September. Dowd was the recipient of the 2017 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the role, and has also been nominated for a Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and won a Critics Choice Award for her work on the show. Her involvement in Margaret Atwood Live follows news that Aunt Lydia's character will return in The Testaments. Dowd also narrates Aunt Lydia's chapters for the audiobook edition of The Testaments. It was also announced that two-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins will make a guest appearance on the evening. Dowd and Hawkins join the previously announced Lily James and Margaret Atwood herself at the event, which takes place on the Lyttelton stage at the National Theatre and is a celebration of the global publication of the Booker-shortlisted The Testaments, Margaret Atwood's highly anticipated sequel to her seminal work, The Handmaid's Tale.

Fane Productions has announced Lily James as a special guest for Margaret Atwood Live on 10 September. The event, which takes place on the Lyttelton stage at the National Theatre, sold out within hours when it was first announced in March, but tickets are still available for over 1,300 live cinema screenings worldwide.

Carole Shorenstein Hays announced today that Book Passage and Curran will present a special one-night-only event featuring a conversation with acclaimed novelist Margaret Atwood-moderated by best-selling author and host of "Foreword," Kelly Corrigan-at the Carol Channing Theater at San Francisco's Lowell High School (1101 Eucalyptus Drive) on Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. The event is part of Curran's popular SHOW & TELL series, featuring topical and entertaining events, and will launch Curran About Town, a new series of Curran programming outside of the theater walls.
