How Sweet the Sound 2024

The hit gospel music competition, How Sweet the Sound, will make its European debut at the Royal Albert Hall next year – and auditions for the contest open today.

Cleveland Public Theatre will present DanceWorks 2023, an annual showcase of contemporary dance. This year's event will be presented in two parts with the first running February 23 through March 11, 2023, with part two running in the spring.

Taking place 7-8 July, the Engine Room Film Festival will showcase emerging and established filmmakers from the South West, celebrating local talent on the main stage of Salisbury Playhouse.

Recipients to be honored at the 43rd annual national celebration of the arts are: multi-disciplinary artist, choreographer, and actress Debbie Allen; singer-songwriter and activist Joan Baez; country singer-songwriter Garth Brooks; violinist Midori; and actor Dick Van Dyke.

Broadway In Chicago, Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, and Quiet Water Entertainment have announced that GOSHEN, featuring dancers and singers performing to music by GRAMMY Award winner Donald Lawrence, will play Broadway In Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Performances begin this Saturday, January 18, as The Old Globe presents August Wilson's Jitney, 2017 Tony Award winner for Best Revival of a Play, directed by one of Wilson's foremost interpreters, Ruben Santiago-Hudson (directed Jitney on Broadway, performed in Gem of the Ocean and Seven Guitars).

Presented by Center Theatre Group, performances for August Wilson's a?oeJitneya?? will begin on November 22 at the Mark Taper Forum. Performances will continue through December 29 with the opening set for November 24. Originally presented by Manhattan Theatre Club, a?oeJitneya?? is directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson.
