Direct from London’s West End, four-time Olivier-nominated stage and screen actor James McAvoy (X-Men, Split, Atonement) makes his BAM debut in a radical new adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s masterwork by Martin Crimp, with direction by Jamie Lloyd (Betrayal).
Convinced he is unlovable, Cyrano uses his poetic brilliance to help another man win over his true love. With a nose as huge as his heart, he seduces in rhyme and verse, relentlessly championing his rival’s love for Roxane and—above all—expressing his own unbridled passion for words.
Nominated for five Olivier Awards, including Best Revival, Best Actor for McAvoy, and Best Director for Lloyd, the Jamie Lloyd Company’s latest production takes over the Harvey Theater with linguistic ingenuity to celebrate Cyrano’s powerful and resonant resistance against overwhelming odds.
