To close out the holiday season, the Argenta Contemporary Theatre in North Little Rock presents A CHRISTMAS STORY THE MUSICAL now through December 22, to a sold-out crowd, and rightfully so. The talent level for this production is through the roof, with a cast that brings extraordinary energy and charm to this timeless holiday tale. My adoration grows and grows with each visit, and I am continually impressed by the magic this theatre creates.

There is nothing more glamorous than going to the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock to witness the world-class artists of Ballet Arkansas bring to life the iconic opera CARMEN that opens with the most exquisite voice you have ever heard. On Saturday, Oct. 12, Broadway World was treated to this experience of passion, elegance, and drama, merging the intensity of Georges Bizet's famous score with the fluid grace of Rodion Shchedrin’s “modernist perspective.” Under the guidance of Choreographer Michael Fothergill, the audience was thoroughly captivated from beginning to end.

During the Restoration and beyond, there were numerous attempts at rewriting Shakespeare - one famous example being Romeo and Juliet changing to a happy ending. His work has also been adapted for slightly different kinds of staging, which is evident in Henry Purcell’s operatic composition; The Fairy Queen is in fact a musical and slightly alternative view of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ahead of Prom 68 (Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Les Arts Florissants and Compagnie Käfig combined to present their interpretation of Purcell’s piece, with Paul Agnew conducting.
