Broadway Rewind: BILLY ELLIOT Pirouettes to Broadway in 2008!

Billy Elliot made a huge splash in London in 2005 before it crossed the Atlantic. The Broadway production opened at the Imperial Theatre on November 13, 2008, where it remained for over three years and 1312 performances. The show made Tony winners of its three pint-sized leading men (David Álvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish) and picked up nine other Tonys that season. The production also notabley starred Haydn Gwynne, Gregory Jbara and a young, future Tony-winner, Santino Fontana.

Actors' Equity Association ('AEA' or Equity) today named CINDERELLA and THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL as co-recipients of the 'Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway' Award for the 2012-13 theatrical season. Presented by Equity's Eastern Region Equal Employment Opportunity Committee (EEO), the award honors shows that exemplify and promote the union's founding principles of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity for all who work in the theatre. As Elton John and Lee Hall's awar-winning Billy Elliot The Musical approaches its second birthday, half a million new tickets will go on sale April 23, taking booking up until December 20, 2008.
