Stephen Daldry's production of JB Priestley's An Inspector Calls is to return to the West End. The production, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, will run at the Playhouse Theatre from 4 November this year with an opening night on 10 November. It will be 70 years since the play first appeared in the UK.

JB Priestley's chilling play is set ahead of the First World War when a mysterious inspector visits a family home. Daldry's production opened in 1992 and won 19 awards including four Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards. It originally ran at the National Theatre and then transferred to the West End and toured the UK.

Daldry said: "Each time we have mounted this production it seems more relevant than the last with the refugee crisis, the European referendum debate and American elections, you can't fail to see the genius of Priestley's writing."
