Review: GOREY STORIES is a Haunting Delight for Spooky Season...The Perfect Treat at Jobsite Theater
by Drew Eberhard - Oct 28, 2024

Jobsite Theater once again dives headfirst into a world only they know how to portray. A world reveling in the strange, the unorthodox, and yet proving to be a masterclass of all things twisted and warped. This production which harkens back to their production of Shockheaded Peter, a few seasons back, once again dives into a little unfamiliar territory than we normally witness in the area, but an area so well known to Jobsite and its followers. Perfectly demented and, perfectly placed this deranged grouping of child-like tales have a bleak ending for most of the characters involved.

Review: GODS & MORTALS: A CELEBRATION OF WAGNER at The Kennedy Center
by Rachael F. Goldberg - Oct 28, 2024

'Gods & Mortals: A Celebration of Wagner' is a beautiful, if limited, array of performances and works highlighting both the composer and Kennedy Center’s own wonderful talent.

Review: THE THANKSGIVING PLAY at Altarena Playhouse
by Kelly Rogers Flynt - Oct 27, 2024

Thanksgiving is a time for food, family, and football. Or at least that is the way that most Americans experience it. In recent years, a few have stepped back to challenge the simplicity of the holiday, the edited history of its origin, and the lack of authentic Native voices in the story. Playwright Larissa FastHorse brings these issues to the forefront while using humor and satire to explore the problems. Altarena Playhouse’s production of THE THANKSGIVING PLAY uses that humor to deliver the message with aplomb. Hearty laughs with hefty questions make for a great night of theater.

Review: THE PIANO LESSON at A Noise Within
by Evan Henerson - Oct 27, 2024

Barely six months since braving Wilson's KING HEDLEY II, the company and director Gregg T. Daniel are back an impactful - if leisurely – PIANO LESSON. Where HEDLEY was grim, this one is ghostly, rueful and full of music.

Review: THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at Gettysburg Community Theatre
by Andrea Stephenson - Oct 27, 2024

The set is perfectly creepy, and the lighting, complete with candles hanging from the ceiling, sets the mood. While the entire cast brings an energetic and exciting performance, the Phantoms really bring the show to life. Overall, the cast and crew of The Rocky Horror Show at GCT is sure to be an audience favorite!

Review: LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Theatre Under the Stars
by Brett Cullum - Oct 26, 2024

The cast here is immaculate, and LITTLE SHOP is a character actor’s dream come true. Everyone gets to play bigger and broader, and we get to see them have a ball, bringing these kooky archetypes to life. They are all pitch-perfect and create a wonderfully realized revival of this show for Houston just in time for Halloween.
