"June is the First Fall" explores the complexities of queer identity, family, and self-acceptance. It centers on Don, a gay Chinese man, who returns home to Hawaii to rediscover missing memories of himself and his family that he moved away from. His week-long stay opens wounds with his father and sister that never healed, aggravating Don’s struggle to find love and belonging in his life.

Directors' Insight: Christie Zhao remarks, "This play is about a family with so much love it feels suffocating at times. It's about leaving and coming home, loving others, and embracing your own identity, culture, and language in the most delicate, intimate way. A coming out Asian queer story is rare in Seattle but resonates deeply with many."
