Tero Buru is a new play paying tribute to the late Scottish-Kenyan artist Beldina Odenyo, brought to life posthumously by her sister Leah McAleer and director Julia Taudevin. Presented at Platform in Glasgow, the production features a cast of vibrant artists including Hannah Lavery, Kimberley Mandindo, and Jamie Marie Leary, weaving together themes of loss and connection through a unique blend of dance, song, and dramatic monologue. Set against the backdrop of a funeral ritual from the Luo people, the play explores the journey of four women rediscovering their ancestral ties and the rituals of their past. This intimate performance will also showcase original music composed by Beldina, making for a deeply personal homage to her artistic legacy.
