One of the Fringe’s smash-hit sensations is back for the third year running with their latest ad-libbed creation following another critically acclaimed festival.
Based on a little-heard-of off-Broadway musical called Hamilton, this hour of completely unchoreographed choreography and unrehearsed hip hop delights often opens nightly to endless queues and closes to standing ovations and last year completely sold out its entire Fringe run.
Once a historical figure/celebrity has been decided upon by the audience, the cast and their excellent band The Shamiltones entirely improvise an epic musical; the songs, the dialogue, the plot… even the choreography! Every night is a new musical; tonight it could be David Attenborough, tomorrow Teletubby Tinky Winky.
A now Fringe institution and one of the most popular and critically acclaimed international comedy improv ensembles, Baby Wants Candy were the team behind international smash-hits Thrones! The Musical (which had a month’s run at the Sydney Opera House) and 50 Shades! (which went on to be performed in 10 different languages). They have launched the careers of various top comedic actors and writers in the US including Craig Cackowski (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development), Jack McBrayer (Kenneth in 30 Rock), Vanessa Bayer and Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live), Thomas Middleditch (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Chris Grace (Superstore), John Hartman (Ghosts) and Ross Bryant (The Good Place). They have sold out every single Fringe run since they started in 2010 and Shamilton still continues to sell out shows throughout the States from Chicago to New York to LA to Washington DC…
“Every action’s an act of creation!” in the latest Fringe smash hit phenomenon that is going to make you “talk less. Smile more” this summer. Just make sure you’re ‘in the room where it happens’! (Sorry, we can’t help it.)
