After coming out in her late 30’s, the off-kilter Funny Woman finalist and BBC New Act nominee talks raising kids, rinsing homophobes and confronting her wild past in her debut solo hour, directed by Will Rowland (Crizards).
With over 10 million views on TikTok and counting and multiple TV projects currently in development with BBC Studios and Clerkenwell Films, Amy has written and performed two monologues for Radio 4 and has written for The News Quiz, The Now Show and Hypothetical (Dave). She has written three autobiographical plays in collaboration with the Bristol Old Vic, one of which (The Islanders) she went on to perform at the Edinburgh festival to critical acclaim and for which she was awarded the Underbelly/Ideas Tap Edinburgh Fringe Fund, and in in 2014 Amy won the Dundee International Book Prize with her novel The Other Ida.
She was very recently invited on to Gordon Smart’s Five Live programme, and one of her Tik Tok videos was aired on Radio 1’s Greg James Breakfast Show! After making the finals of the Funny Women Awards, Amy took a break to have two children before gaining a place on the prestigious 21 Soho/Soho Theatre Comedians Workshop (led by the late Adam Brace) and is now a firm favourite in all the top clubs and venues across the country.
The Pleasance is at Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh, EH8 9TJ, Edinburgh.
