With only two weeks to go until the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 kicks off, here's a little reminder of the fantastic acts that are heading up to Edinburgh this August:
Al Porter - 'Al Porter At Large' (Pleasance Courtyard, 10.40pm, 3rd - 28th August)
Rising Irish star Al Porter, as seen on BBC Two's Live at the Apollo, follows up his hugely successful Edinburgh debut with a brand new show full of cheekiness, honesty & sparkling showmanship! 23-year-old Al has plenty of gossip and laughs to serve up in this feel good hour full of his trademark council-estate camp!
Andrew Ryan - 'Ruined' (Assembly George Square Studios, 7.50pm, 3rd - 28th August)
Watch Andrew divide (but not conquer) his own life.'Ruined'sees Andrew Ryan explore his destructive personality and habit of catastrophisingsituations, which leaves him feeling like he is ruining things for himself. This is an all-new show from the star of Comedy Central at The Comedy Store & BBC3's Ed Comedy Fest Live.
Des Bishop - 'Grey Matters' (Pleasance Dome, 8pm, 3rd-28th August)
Following the extremely successful sell-out show 'Made in China' in 2014, Des Bishop returns to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016 with his eagerly awaited new show 'Grey Matters'
The fantasy of everlasting youth died with Des' last purchase of Just for Men. Now embracing the grey, Des tackles the issues confronting him these days: modern parenting, erectile dysfunction and period shaming, among other things. After his previous documentary-style stand-up show about his time in China, Des is looking forward to returning to straight stand-up where he can riff about whatever is on his mind.
Jenny Collier - 'Jen-Hur' (Underbelly Med Quad, 5.30pm, 3rd-28th August)
'Jen-Hur' is the epic debut from multi-award winning Welsh stand up Jenny Collier. As winner of the Laughing Horse New Act Competition in 2014 and Hobgoblin New Act 2015, Jenny has quickly become one of the most exciting new acts on the UK comedy circuit.
Jen-Hur has absolutely nothing to do with Romans and is not 3 1/2 hours long; the name was picked purely for pun purposes, although it is a coincidence that the show did cost nearly $15.2 million to make and is peppered with charming continuity errors. Audiences will be treated to a fog of relatable experiences and will be able to bask in the glow of "I'm glad I'm not her (Hur)" vibes for the duration of, and long after, the show. Previous audience feedback includes "I was crying with laughter", "Finally someone else understands" and "It's good to know there are other minging girls out there".
Marcus Brigstocke - 'Why The Long Face?' (Pleasance Courtyard, 9.30pm, 5th - 14th August)
The award-winning comedian Marcus Brigstocke is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016 by popular demand with his critically acclaimed show 'Why The Long Face?'
Why? Because of austerity, Donald Trump, cheese strings, George Osborne, being single, Isis, The Daily Mail, tax avoiders and the inexplicable popularity of nail bars. That's why. Come to this show - last time there was a fire and almost no one died! Following a sold-out month long run at the Edinburgh Festival in 2015, Marcus returns this year for a limited 10 nights only!
Margaret Thatcher Queen of Game Shows (Assembly George Square Gardens,9pm, 4th - 28th August)
DING DONG THE WITCH IS BACK! Multi-award winning fringe sensation Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho presents the most fabulous game show of all! Fresh from total sell-out Edinburgh Fringe runs in 2014 and 2015, the Iron Lady has now set her sights on light entertainment and has decided to become the new Mr. Saturday Night (except not a man).
Join Maggie as she makes Audience members compete for their golden giro cheque in a drag comedy cabaret Saturday teatime extravaganza like no other! Alongside cameo appearances from Winston Churchill, Owen Jones, Nicola Sturgeon and Jeremy Corbyn, there'll be songs, games and of course... catchphrases: 'The Lady's not for turning, for turning the lady's ...?'
Paul McCaffrey - 'Fresh Hell' (Laughing Horse @ City Café, 6.45pm, 4th - 28th August)
Star of BBC 3's Impractical Jokers and Russell Howard's Good News and Comedy Central's Stand Up Central, Paul McCaffrey is returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe brand new stand-up show for 2016.
'Fresh Hell' is the eagerly awaited new show from Paul, and runs every evening at the Laughing Horse @ City Cafe at 6.45pm from the 4th - 28th August (not 15th August) as part of the Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Shappi Khorsandi - 'Oh My Country! From Morris Dancing To Morrissey' (The Stand Comedy Club, 8.30pm, 3rd - 28th August)
Shappi Khorsandi is celebrating the fortieth anniversary of her arrival in Britain. She's reclaiming patriotism and sending a love letter to her adopted land. Please don't come if you're a skinhead (though naturally bald folk are welcome). She has whip-crack jokes and is effortlessly funny as she handles every subject with a razor sharp wit, softened only by her deliciously mischievous delivery and endless charm.
Seann Walsh - 'One For The Road' (Pleasance Courtyard, 9.20pm, 3rd - 28th August)
The Lie-in King returns. An all-new show from Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and star of BBC's Live At The Apollo, E4's Virtually Famous and ITV's Play to the Whistle. 'One For The Road' is the eagerly awaited return from one of the UK's brightest comedy stars. As a charming and charismatic natural born observational storyteller, Seann is one of the most frighteningly precocious talents to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in years.
