2016 is proving to be a major year for fledgling theatre company The Outbound Project. Having been selected as one of the companies to join the Graduate Emerging Companies Programme at the New Diorama Theatre and have won the inaugural Les Enfants Terribles Partnership Award in association with Greenwich Theatre, the company are now on a fast track to presenting their first show, THE MISSION, at the Pleasance in Edinburgh in August before transferring for a week of performances in the coveted Edinburgh transfer slot at Greenwich Theatre.

Following the success of recent science fiction dramas like X and The Nether at The Royal Court, Pomona at the Orange Tree, and the work of science-inspired companies like Curious Directive, The Outbound Project's THE MISSION is set in 2057, with Planet Earth on the brink of disaster and the search for a new home underway. The show follows the recruitment and training of Jenny, an unlikely choice for an extraordinary mission. Using slick ensemble movement, puppetry and an original soundtrack THE MISSION is a fast paced, highly physical and sometimes amusing exploration of mankind's ruthless ambition and endless fascination with outer space.

James Haddrell, Artistic Director of Greenwich Theatre, said "we were delighted to present The Outbound Project with the first ever Les Enfants Terribles Partnership Award, including a £1,000 investment in their new production and a package of mentoring as they develop and produce the show. The company has huge potential and there is no doubt that THE MISSION is going to be one of the most talked about shows of this year's Fringe."
