EDINBURGH 2018: BWW Q&A- The Crooners Image

BWW speaks to The Crooners about bringing their show to the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Tell us a bit about The Crooners.

An hour of non-stop, razor-sharp, unadulterated show business from Las Vegas legends Frankie Paradise & Louie Valentine! Comedy, crooning, cocktails and class, expertly mixed into a stupid, surreal, and really really good-looking musical comedy - served with live piano and a dash of lime.

Why bring it to the Fringe?

We wanted to bring an element of old-school class to the Fringe. A throw back to the good old days, when drinks were served with umbrellas in them and wearing anything less than a tuxedo for an evening earned you the frowning of a life-time.

Where else might we know you from?

The show is written and performed by Brendan Murphy & Kiell Smith-Bynoe. You may have seen Brendan touring the US & Canada as one half ofPotted Potter, or in the UK as Lord Fear in Knightmare Live. Kiell, meanwhile, has racked up over 15 million hits on his various YouTube offerings and can be seen in Channel 4's Stath Lets Flats and Friday Night Dinner. You can also catch the two of them together making things up every night in their award-winning improv show BattleActs! - 8.15pm at The Free Sisters.

What sets Crooners apart from other shows at the festival?

There isn't anything quite like it. Part game show, part late night soiree, it's a chaotic comedy croonfest. We've got cocktails for the front row, prizes to be won, and a special guest performance in every show - all this with a live piano and the inimitable style of the biggest Vegas legends you never heard of: Frankie Paradise & Louie Valentine.

Who would you recommend comes to see it?

As the 11pm kick off might suggest it's not really a show for kids, but apart from that it's really a good night out for all ages. Looking for a date night with a difference? Whether you're old enough to remember Sammy, Dean & Frank the first time round or a hip young cat looking for a place to groove - The Crooners is the late night party show for you!

But be warned: There's plenty of audience interaction. So, if you don't like chatting maybe avoid the front row.
