BWW catches up with Jack Chisnall and Joshua Dolphin to chat about bringing Moon to the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Tell us a bit about your show.
Moon plunges you into sketches about the daft and the dark, with a nod to our homes, both English backwaters nested either end of the A49. For us it's about playing around in the fictions these places inspire: we mostly just rattle through our sketches, a whistle-stop tour of our twisted provincial imaginations!
As this is your Edinburgh festival debut, do you think you know what to expect? The last time Josh was in Edinburgh he worked doing a bit of flyering. By the time he got back he'd lost so much weight walking about that his mam wept tears of pride. He's hoping for a repeat performance - it's all this show's been leading to in truth.
How long have you been performing together?
Met doing comedy at university and after that we wrote a few sketches for a fundraiser in aid of the Harinder Veriah Trust. It was a cracking night and we came out feeling like we were on to something. A year's flown by and we hardly expected to have half hour together, then forty, then be at the Fringe within the year! Our room, the Pleasance Attic, is where the League of Gentlemen first performed at the Fringe so it feels like sacred ground. We solemnly promise not to defame it.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Anyone lost. As I say Josh was a flyerer so he'll know where you're off to - no pressure to stay.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch in Edinburgh?
Josh is very keen to see Frank Skinner's play, Nina's Got News. Inevitably he'll bump into Frank and shake his hand for a bit too long.
See Moon at the Pleasance Courtyard throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 1st - 27th August. For tickets visitwww.edfringe.com
