Tell us a bit about The Ghosts of Moistly Hollow.
The Ghosts of Moistly Hollow is a mini-musical comedy about a Victorian lord, ghosts, evil curses, forbidden gay love, and men in lingerie. It's Downton meets Rocky Horror via The Muppets. Only with less of a budget. It's got lovely original songs, lovely original swear words and a lovely actor who dresses up in a lovely lacy basque.
How scary are we talking here?
There's some really great eerie elements to it when the ghosts begin to make themselves known to our heroes, as well as what is revealed at the climax of the show (which I'm not allowed to go into too much detail about...) But then again, if a man in fishnets brandishing a pistol gives you a fright- it'll be VERY scary. Ultimately, it's a comedy with a lot of heart, but don't let that fool you into a false sense of security...
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
The Ghosts of Moistly Hollow is definitely not a story that's been told before: A posh chap, his puppet secretary, a bearded psychic lady and love songs about gin haven't (I think) been seen together at the fringe. But I might be wrong...
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Absolutely everybody who loves ghost stories, anyone who's seen a ghost, anyone who's heard of someone seeing a ghost; everybody who is a fan of love songs, alcohol, swear words or cross-dressing; anyone who has experienced heartache, everyone who is gay, straight, bi, trans, gender fluid, gender solid, curious, 'other' or undecided ( think that cover all bases...?). Also, if anyone needs to hide from the authorities between 17:45 and 18:45 on any day from the 15th-22nd August should definitely come and see the show. It will provide a lot of entertainment and an iron-clad alibi. AND IT'S FREE!
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?
"Adriano Cappalettetta: This Boy's In Love" and "Prom Kween," without a doubt. But mostly "Lucy Pearman: Maid of Cabbage"- possibly the funniest and most beautifully surreal comedienne I've ever seen.
