Tell us a bit about Man Up.
Are the doors to the important thing in your life always locked? Are all the awesome bits just out of reach? At the All Male, male retreat for Men Guru Nigel will show you how to grasp the long hard (door)knob to your life. It will be no walk in the park but a race the race to find out where your knob can take you. Can Temper-Mental find their knobs and re-gain their masculinity?
This is our first show and Edinburgh will be its professional debut. We are incredibly excited to bring our style of comedy to the fringe and hope to be the place to go for a good time. The show was made through us improvising and then trying to make that nonsense into some sort of a story and we believe we've found a brilliantly stupid one.
Who would you recommend comes to see Man Up?
Who do we want to reach with this show? Anyone looking for some fun! This is the sort of show that wants its audience to have a few drinks before, during and after, to come midway through a fun night, have a laugh with us and then carry on. We want to bring back some fun and light-heartedness to theatre because thats what we love. So whether you are looking for a comedy, some cookie characters and odd-ball plot, something to enjoy a drink with or all of it together then we are the show for you!
Why bring it to the Fringe?
We are a fresh company, we started in university this February, performed an early version of our piece and realised we had so much more to do with it! The Fringe is the ideal place for us to get Temper-Mental theatre out there. To reach a new, diverse and unique audience that you can't find anywhere else in the world. We want the fringe to be our platform to bring us to the attention of the theatre world for the first time.
Do you know what to expect from the festival?
Nalin our Co-Tech Manager, Chris and Dane have been up before and they described it to the rest of us as oxford street on christmas eve. For myself (Elliott) , James T and James H it will be our very first time and all i can imagine is that it is a theatre fans heaven so we are all very excited to get up and experience it!
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?
There are so many shows we want to see! Mainly comedy of course, shows like 'Scientology:the musical' and free footlights grab our attention, we just want to have a good time and see a wide range of shows! The main draw of this festival for us is the thought of walking around getting asked to see a show and giving it a go.
