Tell us a bit about Talk Like An Egyptian.

The show is me on stage talking, and I am Egyptian. I'm also Irish and thought about calling the show Talk Like An Eejit but it didnt have the same ring to it.

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

If you are Muslim you go to Mecca, if you are Catholic you go to The Vatican, if you are an Atheist you go see Ricky Gervais Live and if you are a comedian you also go see Ricky Gervais Live and you go to Edinburgh to experience The Edinburgh fringe Festival to get a blessing from the Comedy Gods.

What sets it apart from other shows at the festival?

I don't think there is another show in the programme that answers the philosophical, existential question 'What's The Lesser Of Two Evils: Kim Jung Un's Korea or Kim Kardashian's Career?'

What are the benefits of performing at the Free Fringe?

When I first heard about the 'Free Fringe' I didnt understand it. It was a bit like how I was with 'Free Wi-fi'. I didnt understand why people always asked about 'free Wi-fi' and said stuff like 'excuse me what's the free Wi-fi code?' when they were in cafes and out and about and stuff. But now I have learned what Wi-fi is, I'm all about the free wifi. Once you understand free Wi-fi why would you ever use 4G? The Free Fringe is the same, you don't quite understand it at first but once you do, you're all about it.

Who would you recommend comes to see Talk Like An Egyptian?

I've lived a life of Sharia Law and Murphy's Law being half Egyptian and half Irish and also lived in Saudi Arabia and Bracknell. So anyone who loves a Culture Clash and has a deep respect for Amal Clooney, (the 2nd most powerful Arab woman in the world voted in 2015) will love this show.

Timings and ticket information for Talk Like An Egyptian are available on the edfringe website.
