Tell us a bit about Your Ever Loving.

YEL tells the true story of Paul Hill, arrested in 1974 and one of the Guildford Four who were wrongly convicted of IRA bombings and sentenced to life in prison. It would take 15 years of campaigning for Paul and the other members of the Guildford Four to get justice and see their sentences quashed.

Why is it important to tell this story?

In the mid 1970s the IRA were planting bombs in cities across mainland Britain. In response to anger from the public and media, the Government introduced draconian measures curtailing the basic rights of terror suspects. That didn't stop the IRA but it did lead directly to innocent people, notably The Guilford Four, Birmingham Six and Maguire Seven, being jailed for crimes they did not commit. As the UK faces up to a new wave of terrorism the temptation is to make the same mistakes as we made in the 1970s. Teresa May is already talking about curtailing the human rights of suspects.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

Your Ever Loving is based on the prison letters Paul Hill sent to his family over the 15 years he spent incarcerated. However this is not some dry verbatim play. This production is bold and funny, subversive and angry.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

There are generations of people who've never heard of the Guildford Four. But the story of what happened to them is powerful and important, and probably more relevant now than at any time since their release in 1989. If you give a toss about what is happening in this country or are concerned about where we are going as a nation, you should probably see this play./

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

I missed out seeing This Is Not Culturally Significant when it was on in London, so hoping to catch that at the Gilded Balloon.

I really like Jo Caulfield. so I want to catch her Older. Wiser. Smarter. Meaner show at the Stand Comedy Club.
