What can you tell us about The Hero Who Overslept?
It's a unique show with a never-before-seen mix of climate science, psychology, philosophy and surrealist dance all artfully blended to provide the wake-up call to begin a new love affair with our long-neglected earth....
Have you performed at the Fringe before and do you think you know what to expect?
We're a collaboration of a professional actor who has performed at the Fringe many years ago and a university lecturer with plenty of big venue presentation experience but is a first time Fringe performer, so we're excited to see the response to our newly devised show, the like of which we've not seen before ourselves!
Tell us a little about your background.
Some has been shared in previous answer, but Philip was a court-room barrister who became a professional actor over twenty years ago and has performed in hundreds of theatre shows up and down the country. Stephen is a senior Open University lecturer with huge experience in climate change issues and together our collaboration is designed to bring the critical message of the challenges the world faces to a different audience in a creative and entertaining way.
What sets this apart from other shows at the Fringe?
The show will amuse and ideally move our audience to individual and then collective action in response to the climate crisis we are facing but too often ignoring. It'll be informative, instructive and entertaining in equal measure.
Who would you recommend comes to see The Hero Who Overslept?
Anyone and everyone - as the show suggests, we need Heroes everywhere to respond to the urgent call we're making. We want our audience to be smiling as they leave our show but with a renewed determination to do their bit in helping to save our precious planet. Let's make the earth great again!
