Tell us a bit about Not: Lady Chatterley's Lover.
Not: Lady Chatterley's Lover is a darkly comic, Mel Brooks-style parody of the D.H. Lawrence novel. We follow the same storyline and play a lot with the iconic moments of period drama - shirtless men, long looks into the middle distance and slightly odd artistic choices. We like to take our characters to the point of touching drama and then nudge them into a puddle.
Why bring it to Edinburgh? We're a new company looking to a make an immediate impact, and Edinburgh continues to be a great place for emerging artists. We'd love to be able to take Not Lady C on tour and establish ourselves at Edinburgh, ready to bring a new play next year.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?Red Rose Chain and Arts Council England supported our mini-tour, so we've already tested it out in 3 areas of the country, worked on the feedback and now refined it into a 60 minute bulging bag of goodness.
People who love costume drama, people who hate costume drama and people looking for some fun for their evening show.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?Annie Sertich is a comic genius so her show: Annie Sertich: How to Not Kill Yourself for 30 Days... and the Next 330. Superbolt Theatre are great so their shows Mars Actually and The Jurassic Parks. We've also heard a lot about New Diorama's Secret Life of Humans, so very much looking forward to that too. And of course we'll be rushing to Austentatious at every chance.
