Tell us a bit about The Roads I Didn't Take
The Roads I Didn't Take is a voyage of discovery of what might have happened if I'd chosen different roads to travel throughout my life. It's a choose-your-own-adventure cabaret about sliding doors in time.
The audience is asked to vote between choices I've faced, like do I get married or stay single? I then follow the road of their choice. They vote a total of 5 times so there is a large number of possibilities.
It's a lighthearted cabaret with lots of familiar songs and some new ones too. If the audience pick the right doors they'll hear songs written by Dillie Keane or MD Richard Link as well as some classics of musical theatre and pop.
Why bring The Roads I Didn't Take to Edinburgh?
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a riotous melting pot of genres and the city swarms with lovers of theatre in any form. It's a wonderful opportunity to present material that pushes the boundaries for a performer. I'm convinced that there will be an audience for The Roads I Didn't Take amongst the throng.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
What sets The Roads I Didn't Take apart from other shows at the fringe is the concept of 'choose-your-own-adventure'. It's spontaneous and fresh at every performance.
Is it possible to prepare for a show with audience participation?
The audience participation in this show is a show of hand basically to vote for the majority preference. There are 2 choices on offer at each vote and the content following each choice has been well prepared beforehand. It's the random combination of choices that adds the tension of the unknown.
