EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Bump

Lily is 23, young, free and single and waiting for her life to start, but she's hit a bump. Bump is a tale of some of the awkward encounters and nauseating moments that make up a girl's life. Meet Lily and hear her story as she confronts her choices in the waiting room of an abortion clinic. Bump is a visceral and fast paced one-woman show exploring the journey of childhood to womanhood, and the debate on abortion rights for women in Ireland.

BUMP is a play centred on abortion rights and the story of a woman who has decided to have an abortion. In Ireland today, abortion is illegal excepting in the case of the mother's life being at risk. However, reproductive rights are being scrutinised by politicians and campaigners all over the globe today. We want to bring Lily's story to an international audience, to encourage debate and highlight both sides of the discussions around abortion rights in a personal and intimate context.

BUMP is current in the way that it addresses the abortion debate. Lily, despite the subject matter of the show, is not a victim. She is not a statistic. Instead, she is a human being. BUMP is different from other shows at the Fringe because it deals with big subject matter in an intimate way. It is fast-paced, light-hearted and provoking.
