BroadwayWorld speaks to Joe Wells about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show 10 Things I Hate About UKIP.
Tell us a bit about 10 Things I Hate About UKIP
It's a stand-up show, my second hour-long show. I've spent two years writing it. It's broadly about politics and morality. It asks whether left-wing people are inherently more moral than right-wing people. Or are we sneering, judgemental pricks? What was the inspiration for the show? I get a lot of material from talking to people I know who are right-wing. I've always gone on stage and made fun of their stupid opinions. But recently I've realised that I do like these people, they're my friends and if I'm honest they're probably better people than me.Have you had to alter the show at all after recent political events? There was always going to be topical stuff. I think the tone's changing slightly - I've been writing a reflexive thoughtful show, but now I'm just really angry and want to put a lot more swearing in the show.Timings and ticket information for 10 Things I Hate About UKIP are available on the edfringe website.
