BWW speaks to the creators of Edinburgh Fringe 2016 children's show I Got Superpowers For My Birthday.
Tell us a bit about I Got Superpowers For My Birthday.
It's a Superhero adventure origin story for kids aged between seven and 12 years. In the best tradition of the genre it is (I hope) funny, relatable, epic and a bit crazy!
What kind of superpowers do they have?
One of the characters can shoot fire from her fingertips, another can turn things to ice with just a glance. A third character can control the earth beneath our feet and make it shake with just a touch. All the powers come on literally overnight so it's a bit of a shock to them, as you can imagine!
Why did you decide to bring this show to Edinburgh?
I love the festival so when Paines Plough suggested doing a kids show that would premiere in Edinburgh, I jumped at the chance.
What sets this show apart from the other children's shows at the Fringe?
Hopefully the adults can enjoy our show as well as the kids. Plus we have a giant slug with fangs and an attitude in our play - there's probably not many other shows that can say that!
What's next for the show after Edinburgh?
We go on tour throughout the UK until September.
