EDINBURGH 2016: BWW Q&A - Christina Bianco

We speak to star of the West End and Broadway, Christina Bianco about her Edinburgh Fringe run of Me, Myself and Everybody Else before heading out on her first UK tour.

Yup - I would certainly say so! I'm all about the whiskey and the haggis burgers, you see... No no, I also really am in love with the city and the whole Fringe Festival atmosphere. It's like nothing else. Being completely surrounded by so many artists with such great music, theatre and comedy - and seeing so many people from all over the world come to support the arts - it's just beautiful and I'm so grateful I get to experience it and be part of it, yet again!

I describe it as a 'musical comedy grab bag of fun'! As always, audiences can expect to hear countless impressions of iconic vocalists and pop-culture personalities, some fabulous tunes in my own voice and of course, my 'unlikely interpretations' - like a wacky duet of "Under Pressure" between Julie Andrews and Christina Aguilera. But this programme is a little different because I'll be touring it directly after my Edinburgh run.

There's a lot of brand new material, but I also knew I had to include some 'fan favourites'. That's the great thing about social media - I can constantly read and learn what the people want. I'm certainly not a world renowned super star like Adele, but I do understand the mentality that if you go see her, you want to hear her to do "Rolling In The Deep".

So, in this concert there'll be new material, new impressions, sketches, games and lots of audience participation - and I think those who were disappointed that I didn't do "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" the past two years will be pleasantly surprised this time around. I've got some amusing stuff up my sleeve.

Well, since we last spoke, I had a wonderful time back in Scotland (see, I couldn't stay away) doing the Tonight From The West End concerts back in April. Other than that, I've been in a Fifties and Sixties jukebox musical called The Marvelous Wonderettes, Off-Broadway in NYC.

It's been lovely being home for an extended period of time with my husband and dog. I've been really fortunately to keep working and gigging and to have such a nice balance of travel and home time. I don't take it for granted. And I'm definitely excited about hitting the road again and seeing more of the UK!

I'm a huge fan of Luke Kempner, so even though we're performing at the same time each night, I'm making a pointed effort to snag tickets to his new show before mine opens. Also, I'm looking forward to 'The Blind Date Project', 'Lady Rizo: Multiplied and 'Hyprov'.

Oh yes! I'm excited to finally visit Manchester and go to Kingbee Records, as I'm such a music geek. I've never been to Wales, so playing Cardiff will be a thrill. And while I'm in Leeds, I plan to go to the castle. Between doing press and performing I'll be trying to do all the touristy things I can. I'm making sure to leave lots of room in my suitcase for gifts and souvenirs!

I pride myself on creating a theatrical event where there is truly something for everyone. Three generations of a family can come together and each experience what they know. The teens who like Ariana Grande and Jessie J, the parents who grew up listening to Kate Bush or Sarah Brightman, and the grandparents, still longing for the music of Shirley Bassey or Edith Piaf - I'll cover each of their age groups.

Audience members don't have to be familiar with musical theatre, or be a pop culture know-it-all to enjoy my show. My goal is to cover many singers, actors, personalities, musical genres and themes so that everyone shares the same level of enjoyment and leaves with a smile on their face.
