EDINBURGH 2016: BWW Q&A - Angela Wand

BWW speaks to Angela Wand about 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show Wounded Animals.

Wounded Animals is my first solo and was created with my Director Stephen Rappaport purely out of the comedy that results from life's tragic dilemmas.

This show presents dilemmas that we are faced with daily in our society without giving any answers or solutions. That, I leave to my audience.

It is a lot to fit into an hour!! The show is actually more than an hour but I have had to cut it to 60 minutes for the Fringe.

Once it was time for the creation process of about 4 weeks, no, it wasn't difficult. The show pretty much wrote itself.

We had A LOT of material which was created within the first 3 days. It was like a waterfall. Stephen and I came into a flow and stayed until the end.

Of course there were crisis like in every process (oh my god this is so good! and then the next day..oh my god this is such crap.) But we trusted the material and in the end it was up to me to have the energy to go through it. Because this show is such a journey. Its like getting on a train at a station in the city and ending up out in the wilderness at the end.

I carry it and it carries me.

No, and no.

But seriously, no. I've only just heard about this festival for 20 years but never dared to do it.

I'm peeing my pants a little bit.

I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

It resembles much more of a showcase than a festival. At least what I can make of it. It seems like its a combination of both.

Doesn't matter. I'm so excited.

I would recommend people who are older than 13.

I use a lot of strong language with comedy as my base with content that addresses and breaks through barriers of race, gender, nationality, religion and age. So if you understand english and want to go on a ride with both laughter and maybe something in your head when you leave, then Welcome!

Oh yes! There are a total of 4 companies from Sweden that will be performing. The other 3 are Sirqus Alfon with their show "I Am Somebody". They also play at the Gilded Balloon but in the Nightclub. Charlie Caper and Malin Nilsson will perform as well both on the streets and in Variety shows. These are Swedens best magicians and offer something totally different! So good! And Water on Mars by Gandini Juggling, a MUST SEE juggling show that will kick you with an adrenalin kick you didn't know you needed! They play at the Assembly Roxy.
