Tobias Persson begins the performance by personally greeting the audience on their way in. He then takes to the stage to inform us that he is from Sweden, which means that he is "shy, reserved and sexually liberated". What follows is the true story of the struggles he and his wife faced trying to conceive through IVF.

The performance comes in at 50 minutes rather than the billed hour and I suspect it is because the material isn't quite strong enough to sustain the entire show. He is a funny guy and great storyteller; however, the story isn't quite as interesting as you may first think. Tobias and his wife went through ten rounds of IVF and there are a couple of very good anecdotes but not quite enough to make an entire comedy piece out of. He is a likeable guy and it makes for a pleasant evening with quite a few laughs. While the gags are good, it is his sunny disposition and delivery that really work here.

Tobias Persson has a lot of potential as a comedian and with a stronger subject matter could do very well.

One Thing Led To A Mother runs at The Stand until August 24th.
