After the sudden departure of the head of news at the BBC, Rachel Clarke finds herself promoted on a temporary basis. Six hours into her first day as acting Head Of News she uncovers potentially the biggest conspiracy in the history of the corporation. She is faced with the decision to either try and bury the story or expose it and implicate the Director General of the BBC.
Superbly acted and brilliantly scripted, this fast moving satire is funny and very on-topic in light of recent media scandal.
A staff member at sister news show Panorama informs Rachel that he suspects the BBC are funding a cult: a cult that believe if all their million members have the same thought, at the same time, they can make things happen through the power of their belief. The BBC website has been hacked, allegedly, by this cult and other news channels are already beginning to run reports on it. She has to decide whether or not to expose the allegations and potentially make or break her career.
Making News is at the Pleasance Courtyard at 1pm until August 25th. Ticket information is available here.
