Newsies Set to Light Up the Stage with a Fun & Energetic Musical Experience 

San Mateo, CA – February 3, 2025 – Prepare for a thrilling journey through song, dance, and unforgettable storytelling as Tri-School Productions (Mercy, Notre Dame & Junipero Serra High Schools) presents the highly anticipated musical, Newsies, premiering on March 28, 2025. Directed by Gennine Harrington, Newsies promises to be a fresh, exciting addition to the world of musical theatre. 

Written by Harvey Fierstein and featuring a dynamic score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, Newsies explores the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the titan of publishing Joseph Pulitzer, to fight for what’s right. Newsies will bring together a talented cast and creative team for an unforgettable theatrical experience. With stunning choreography by Gennine Harrington, Julie Nunez & Paige Bennett, this production promises to captivate audiences of all ages. 

"Newsies is a story that celebrates the underdog, in this case the youth. It’s a triumphant true story about kids having each others’ backs and being courageous enough to take down an establishment. The message is relevant today as we strive to grow socially and bridge the gaps in understanding across generations," said Harrington. "It's filled with heart, humor, and high-energy performances that will resonate with everyone who sees it." 

The production stars Andrew Marheineke as Jack Kelly, alongside Maggie Del Chiaro as Crutchie, Sianna Solimeno Kiebler as Katherine Plumber, Jonah Buan as Davey, and Adi Joshi as Medda Larkin in key roles. The talented high school cast will also feature local grammar school students and welcome back alumni to the Tri-School Productions stage, whose electrifying performances will help bring this musical to life.
