Burn the Floor, the sexy, steamy dance sensation that has set world stages ablaze with its unique, edgy take on Ballroom & Latin dance, is set to Rhumba its way into San Francisco's Post Street Theatre beginning this Friday, January 30. (Click here to see a sample of the show!)
As Burn the Floor's troupe of 16 award-winning dancers, two percussionists and two vocalists prepare for their San Francisco premiere, two of their fellow powerhouse performers, Giselle Peacock and Henry Byalikov, are set to compete in the finals of NBC's hit reality show, "Superstars of Dance," tonight at 8 p.m.! The duo, representing Henry's homeland of Australia and coached by Burn the Floor director/choreographer Jason Gilkison, wowed the judges last week with their red-hot Samba and are looking to top the team from Argentina tonight to bring home Gold for Australia.
From Harlem's hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steam up the stage, Burn the Floor takes audiences on a toe-tapping journey through the passionate drama and rich history of dance. The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of the Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble-audiences will experience them all, not to mention the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep, Swing... it's Ballroom dance with a sexy 21st century edge.
