New Village Arts, Carlsbad’s award-winning, professional theatre will be unveiling their ninth season of theatre on Saturday, May 9th from 5-10 PM at the unforgettable home of Julie & Peder Norby on the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad.  The Norby’s home, named “Herons’ House” is a zero energy home made with about 98% recycled material and surrounded by native low water plants and a fully operational vineyard.  It has been honored with the 2008 Sandee Award as well as the 2008 S.D. County 3rd District Supervisor Pam Slater-Price Sustainability Award.  As a special incentive, guests will be invited to taste the first wine ever grown from seed and bottled in the City of Carlsbad.

In addition to the wine tasting, guests will see live vignettes from the selected plays in NVA’s Ninth Season performed by members of their acclaimed acting Ensemble, hear musical selections from some of the musicians represented in NVA’s Off-Night Series, and tour the home and gardens of Herons’ House.  There will also be two short films premiered created by Pegasus Productions featuring NVA’s Ensemble with music by Nathan James.

The Guests of Honor for the event are Jack and Valerie Cumming, who have provided major support to New Village Arts since 2007.  Mr. and Mrs. Cumming are extremely active in the Carlsbad community and strongly believe in the strength and importance of New Village Arts in Carlsbad Village.

Tickets for the event are only $75 per person, or $125 per couple and can be reserved by calling 760-433-3245 or visiting www.NewVillageArts.org
