Student Blog: Spring Update and Whats to Come!

My first spring semester at Wagner has been zooming past me. I finished midterms, just returned from spring break, and am now preparing to register for the upcoming fall semester! It has all gone by so fast! One thing I can say is that I have kept busy! Between homework, projects, and breaks, these past few months have been interesting and it's about to get even more interesting... So here's what's to come!

Now I get to tell you about my most recent endeavor... assistant stage managing for Completely Student Productions (CSP), a Student-run theater club here on Campus! I am very fortunate to have become acquainted with a kind upperclassman who thought of me to help him put on the CSP's final show of the 2022-2023 season, a play entitled, Smokefall by Noah Haidle. This news makes me both uncontrollably excited and nervous all at once. For someone with no experience like me, these opportunities are rare, so I'm so happy that the show's kind director took a chance on me, however, it is a big responsibility and a lot to learn! Nonetheless, I'm eager to learn and work with this wonderful group of creatives and even more excited to write about the journey, what I learned, my inevitable mistakes, and the joy of it all! So stay tuned for more of that!

Speaking of inexperience... Outside of the realm of college theater, I have been given the task of lighting for the up-and-coming masterpiece that is my job's Wizard of Oz junior show. I think it has been reiterated many times now that I have zero experience in anything theater related, so this is another exciting opportunity. Even though it is Wizard of Oz junior, the kids have so much passion and charisma. I am delighted to be the one to light their journey to Oz!

I simply can not wait to write about all these wonderful experiences and other thoughts and observations I have along the way! While these two ventures are a little nerve-wracking, I am very hopeful that they will turn out fantastic and hope that writing about them will motivate someone just like me who is anxious to try but doesn't know where to start to put themselves out there and try!
