The History of the Arts Center
Courthouse Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) arts organization that ensures the integral presence of the arts in our lives, by providing facilities, programming, and leadership. The Center offers accessible, affordable arts and educational programs for adults and children. We are also committed to the preservation of the historic Washington County Courthouse, which is the home for the Center for the Arts. Our goal is to continue to offer extensive opportunities to individuals and families to become involved in the many facets of the arts.
Commitment to Quality Entertainment
At the Courthouse we are introducing new programs for our members and the South County community.
Center-Stage Productions is a new company for the serious actor looking to perform challenging material in a professional setting. Upon acceptance into the company, members are guaranteed a role in all productions with the company. Members will also help to choose future shows, develop new programs, and work on our productions in a technical capacity.
We are also introducing our first season of outdoor entertainment with our Outdoor Concert Series and our own professional Shakespeare Company performing on the Lawn.
Commitment to Education
We are expanding our Children's Education Program by developing a Shakespeare Company for Kids. The students will adapt Shakespeare's plays and performing their own interpretation for other kids. This Ensemble will travel statewide, performing in various educational venues to all age groups.
