One-hundred years after the foundation of the Czech statehood, the 6th International Opera and Music Festival Janácek Brno 2018 will open November 17, 2018 to celebrate opera, music, and Leoš Janácek.
While past years have included Janácek's music, this year's festival will be devoted almost exclusively to his opera pieces. Janácek's music career was at its peak during the foundation of the Czechoslovak Republic, making highlighting Janácek work so special during the festival this year.
The festival will kick-off with the premiere of The Cunning Little Vixen on August 17, 2018 and different opera and musical performances will be in performance until December 5, 2018. Throughout the program there will be concerts featuring excellent performers such as Thomas Adès, Jan Jiraský, Martin Kasík, Jitka Cechová, Simona Houda-Šaturová and the Pavel Haas Quartet.
Tickets for the 6th International Opera and Music Festival went on sale November 2017 and within the first month of sales three performances were sold out. To see learn more about the festival, check out programming, and to purchase tickets check out: http://janacek-brno.cz/en/index.html
