And from Camp 2, on Friday August. 21, students will present "Los Cangrejos ... the Crabs That Played With the Seas". Both shows are at 3:00 p.m. at the HArt Theatre, 185 NE Washington, corner of 2nd street, Hillsboro.
Written and directed by LESTA founder Cyndi Turtledove, "El Tesoro"
tells the story of Sierra - a little girl searching for the treasure her dad has left somewhere in the desert. She and the Miners (Mineros) are misdirected everywhere by the Sign Family (Los Letrero) who always give wrong directions. The Moles (Los Topos), who are constantly cooking salsas de mole, want the Miners to come eat with them and not search for treasure, while the Sheriff and Deputy try to stop all digging! What is the treasure? It's not gold or jewels!
Teacher Cyndi adapted "Los Cangrejos" from a story by Rudyard Kipling, where the Crabs are so big that they pull the ocean with them whenever they go out for food or return. This badly effects not just the Man in the Moon, but also the Human Family and all the Animals, as it either floods their homes, or drags all the water away from them. To find out how the Wizards solve this problem and get the Crabs to stop playing with the sea, please come and see the show!
Both bilingual musical plays have lots of fun Audience Participation, and many song parodies to help move the action along! For more information contact Teacher Cyndi at (503) 617-6986 or cyndi@lesta.net Also you can check the website at www.lesta.net.
