Gallery Theater Announces Auditions For Its Production Of OLIVER!, Auditions Begin 6/20

Gallery Theater announces auditions for its production of Oliver! Auditions will be held at the theater, 210 NE Ford St, McMinnville, Oregon. Oliver! has music, lyrics, and book  by Lionel Bart. It is directed by Phil Darling.

Auditions are set to take place on Saturday, June 20, 2009 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 21, 2009 5:00-9:00 p.m. ~ Dance only, Monday, June 22, 2009 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 6:00 p.m. -- callbacks as needed.

Auditions are by appointment only (5 minutes each) and can be scheduled by calling the box office
at 472-2227, Tuesday-Friday 12-6:00.

Cast of characters is as follows:

*Oliver Twist - A workhouse boy about 13 years of age
*Mr. Bumble, the Beadle - A large pompous man of 55
*Widow Corney - A sharp-tongued, domineering widow of 50, the Workhouse Mistress
Noah Claypole - The Undertaker’s pimply apprentice
*Mr. Sowerberry - The Undertaker
*Mrs. Sowerberry - His overseer
Charlotte - Their sluttish young daughter
*The Artful Dodger - Fagin’s brightest pupil, an undersized 18
*Fagin - An elderly receiver – runs training academy for young pickpockets
*Nancy - 23 years old – a graduate of Fagin’s academy, and Bill’s doxy
Charles Bates, and other boys - Approximately 20 needed. Will double as workhouse boys. May be
boys or girls.
*Bet - A 13-year-old lass in Fagin’s establishment, idolizes Nancy
Old Sally - A Pauper
Old Lady
*Bill Sykes - A villain in his prime
*Mrs. Bedwin
  - The Brownlows’ housekeeper
MR. Brownlow - An old gentleman of wealth and breeding
Dr. Grimwig - A Doctor
Boy, First Woman, Second Woman, Night Watchman, First Bow Street Runner, Second Bow Street Runner
Man, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Man, Charman, chorus of Workhouse boys, Workhouse assistants, Bow Street Runners,
Vendors, Criers, Crowd

Mr. Bumble - "D" below middle "C" to "A" above middle "C"
Widow Corney - "D" above middle "C" to High "A"

Fagin Low - "C" to "F" above middle "C"
Nancy Low - "F" to "F" above middle "C"
Bet Low - "A" to "E" above middle "C"
Bill Sykes - Low "C" to "E" above middle "C"

Minimum audition age is 7.

Oliver & The Artful Dodger may be cast as a boy or girl as they are demanding roles.

Other roles should be age appropriate.

What to bring to auditions:
1. A photo of yourself that will not be returned. A photocopy is acceptable.
2. A monologue in the style of the character you are auditioning for.
3. A song in the style of your character, 16-20 bars maximum. (Voice ranges will be posted &
piano, audio-tape/CD player will be provided).

You will be required to pay a $25 refundable deposit for script/music rehearsal material.

Eleven Performances: September 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, Oct. 2, 3 ~ 2009

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Sunday performances at 3 p.m.
