Civic Theatre of Allentown is offering the following ticket promotions for its production of Genesius, a new musical opening on Friday, May 8th and running through Sunday, May 17th at Civic’s 19th Street Theatre:

1) "Pay What You Can" Night: Friday, May 15th, 8pm.
-for this show, and this show only, Civic will let patrons pay whatever they can for a ticket to Genesius! Pay less… or pay more… patrons have the option on May 15th!

Pay What You Can tickets are only available for purchase in person at the Civic Box Office, and only available the day of the show. Anyone who purchases a Pay What You Can ticket is asked to bring a canned good for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley.

2) College Night: Saturday, May 9th, 8pm.
-all college students will pay only $20 (a savings of $6 per ticket!) for the May 9th show! Students must show their college ID at the door. Whether a student of Muhlenberg or Moravian, DeSales or Drexel, Yale or Oxford, all college students are invited to come see Genesius at a special rate that night.

3) There is a #3, but we can’t release it to the media.
-only a cast/crew member of Genesius can reveal the 3rd way to save money on a Genesius ticket.

Genesius, the story behind the founding of Reading’s Genesius Theatre, is the closing show of Civic Theatre of Allentown’s 2008-2009 stage season; it explores the themes of reaching out, mentoring and giving back to those whose lives we touch daily. Civic Managing Director Arlene Daily cites this as one of the reasons that Civic is implementing a Pay What You Can night for the first time: “We want people who have been hit hard by the economy to still enjoy a night at Civic. This is an important and inspiring story that everyone deserves the chance to see.”

Daily also hopes that those who can pay more on that night will do so: “Civic has also been hit hard by the economy, and we’re in need of the community’s support more than ever before. We’re banding together with Second Harvest for this night because non-profits need to do what they can to help each other out these days.”
