Silver Palm Award Recipients Announced

The Silver Palm Awards committee - founded four years ago to honor theatrical excellence in South Florida - has announced that this year it will present the coveted award to 17 individuals, including two for direction of plays, two for playwriting and one for creating a memorable fighting sequence. Also among the honorees is Mosaic Theatre for its ensemble work in the 2011 production of The Irish Curse.
JERSEY BOYS to Host HELP Benefit, 10/2

JERSEY BOYS will take their moves from the stage to the runway in an interactive fashion show event to benefit HELP of Southern Nevada on Sunday, October 2 on the runway at Fashion Show. The event will consist of a clothing drive, fashion show, prize raffle and exclusive meet and greet with JERSEY BOYS cast members. Emceed by KLAS-TV news anchor Dayna Roselli, the event kicks off at 2:00 p.m. with a retro-inspired fashion show followed by the meet and greet with cast members. The afternoon with JERSEY BOYS will conclude at 4:00 p.m. with a raffle of exciting prizes. Clothing drive donations will be accepted beginning at noon.

Yesterday, September 20, The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) presented the third annual Broadway Salutes, a public celebration recognizing the countless professionals who have made Broadway great for decades. In this industry-wide celebration, theater professionals received special recognition for having worked 25, 35, and 50+ years in their respective theatrical craft. The event featured performances by Raul Esparza and Leslie Uggams. Kathleen Marshall, Bebe Neuwirth and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn were the afternoon's special guests.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2011, The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) will present the third annual Broadway Salutes, a public celebration recognizing the countless professionals who have made Broadway great for decades. In this industry-wide celebration, which takes place at 4:30 PM, theater professionals will receive special recognition for having worked 25, 35, and 50+ years in their respective theatrical craft. The event will feature performances by Raul Esparza and Leslie Uggams. Kathleen Marshall and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, are special guests with other participants soon to be announced.

Playwrights Horizons will present the New York premiere of COMPLETENESS, a new play by Itamar Moses (The Four of Us, Bach at Leipzig). Directed by Obie Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park at PH, The Four of Us, Occupant, Peter and Jerry), the production will begin previews Friday, August 19 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 13 at 7PM. The first production of the theater company's 2011/2012 Season, the limited engagement will play through Sunday, September 25 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater.
