Custom Made Theatre to Present SHOSHANA IN DECEMBER Beginning Next Month
The Custom Made Theatre Co. (Ciera Eis, Interim Artistic Director) closes its 23rd season with the new musical “Shoshana in December” with book by Rose Oser, lyrics by Weston Scott, and music by Matt Fukui Grandy (writers of the smash hit Tinderella in 2018) directed by Vanessa Flores with music direction by Kiki Lipsett.

But Tanghalang Pilipino's original musical 'Mabining Mandirigma' is our story--a period of frustration and struggle that can't be ignored. It tells the Philippines' history (1898-1903), which, sadly, keeps repeating itself until today--unless we embrace change and move forward.
Dorthaan Kirk, Newark's First Lady Of Jazz, Named 2020 NEA Jazz Master
Dubbed Newark's First Lady of Jazz, Dorthaan retired from WBGO Jazz 88.3 in 2018 after four decades as a founding employee of the award-winning public radio station in Newark. She continues to produce and book events throughout New Jersey; inspire and support young musicians through the Dorthaan Kirk Scholarship Opportunity Fund; serve as Consultant to New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC); head up Rokir Music Corp. to build upon the legacy of her late husband, Rahsaan Roland Kirk; book Bethany Baptist Church's Jazz Vespers services, now for the 20th year; and offer her time and expertise to help secure the future of the art form.
Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards Will Be Held May 6
Broadway In Chicago is delighted to announce that the eighth annual Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards (IHSMTA) will be held at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) on Monday, May 6, 2019, hosted by NBC 5's entertainment reporter LeeAnn Trotter and sponsored by CHICAGO THE MUSICAL (which will play at the Cadillac Palace Theatre from May 7-12). The Illinois chapter of The Jimmy Awards (National High School Musical Theatre Awards) one of the largest programs in the country serves as an annual national celebration of outstanding achievement in musical theater performance by high school students.
