BIO

Thomas Bradshaw is a playwright and director known for his provocative and controversial works that explore issues of race, sexuality, and identity. Born in 1978 in Los Angeles, Bradshaw grew up in a predominantly white suburb and was exposed to the arts at an early age. He attended Harvard University, where he studied playwriting and was mentored by renowned playwright Adrienne Kennedy.
Bradshaw made his Off-Broadway debut in 2008 with his play "Southern Promises," which was produced by PS122. The play, which explores interracial relationships and the legacy of slavery, received critical acclaim and established Bradshaw as a rising voice in American theater. Since then, Bradshaw has produced a number of plays that have been produced Off-Broadway and regionally, including "Job," "Burning," and "Fulfillment."
Bradshaw's work is known for its explicit and often controversial subject matter. His plays have been criticized for their graphic depictions of sex and violence, and for their frank discussions of taboo topics such as incest and pedophilia. However, Bradshaw has defended his work as a reflection of the world we live in, and as a way of confronting uncomfortable truths.
In addition to his work as a playwright, Bradshaw has also directed a number of productions, including his own plays and works by other playwrights. He has collaborated with a number of theater companies, including The Flea Theater, where he served as a resident playwright from 2011 to 2014.
Bradshaw has also worked in television and film, writing and directing episodes of the HBO series "The Deuce" and the Netflix series "Master of None." He has also written screenplays, including "Intimacy," which was a finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab.
Bradshaw's most recent work is the play "Carlyle," which premiered Off-Broadway at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in 2019. The play, which explores issues of race and class in contemporary America, received positive reviews and further established Bradshaw as a leading voice in American theater.
Overall, Thomas Bradshaw is a playwright and director who has gained a reputation for his provocative and controversial works that explore issues of race, sexuality, and identity. His plays have been produced Off-Broadway and regionally, and he has also worked in television and film. Bradshaw's most recent work is the play "Carlyle," which premiered Off-Broadway in 2019.
