BWW Review: STILL AN AWFUL LOT OF FUN: WAITRESS AT THE HIPPODROME
Building on Adrienne Shelly’s sometimes grimly hilarious and frequently heartwarming 2007 movie of the same name, and realized for the musical stage by Broadway’s first all-female creative team in 2016, Waitress has been almost continuously on Broadway, apart from a COVID break which ended when the show was the first musical to reopen there. With great songs by Sara Bareilles, a strong script by Jessie Nelson, vivid characters, some surprising dance numbers, lots of sexy behavior, and a strong feminist message, there’s little not to like.

On Thursday, December 12, Waitress hosted a very special reunion of 12 adorable alumnae and current Lulus for a colorful sendoff for the hit Broadway show. The girls (and their parents) traveled to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to catch up and say hello to the cast before the show closes up its Broadway run on January 5. One Lulu even traveled all the way from South Carolina!
Sing Karaoke with Broadway's WAITRESS - Tomorrow!
If you've ever dreamed of singing on a Broadway stage, be at Broadway's WAITRESS tomorrow, Wednesday evening September 14, when the show hosts the first ever “Cast Album Karaoke.” Interested audience members will be able to sign up before the performance for the chance to sing one minute of any song in the show accompanied by musical director Nadia DiGiallonardo.

Produced by Sara Bareillesand Neal Avron, the cast album is projected for release on June 10th across digital platforms and on July 1st on compact disc. Audiences at tonight's preview of WAITRESS got to see a very special performance when part of the set for the diner stopped working. While the show was paused so that the crew could make the necessary adjustments - the show's Grammy nominated composer/lyricist Sara Bareilles got on stage to sing a cut song from the show as well as 'Part of Your World' - a Disney classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
