BIO
Ethan is a Grammy Award nominated music producer and Tony Award nominated orchestrator. With a career spanning over the last twenty years, his work as a music supervisor, arranger, orchestrator, and music producer has been seen and heard worldwide.
Since 2013, Ethan has served as the music supervisor, arranger and orchestrator for Broadway’s Motown the Musical, which earned him a 2013 Tony Award nomination for Best Orchestration (along with co-orchestrator Bryan Crook) and can currently be seen on tour throughout the United Kingdom. Motown also earned Ethan a 2014 Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Theater Album (as music producer of the show’s Original Broadway Cast Recording, along with co-producer Frank Filipetti).
Ethan served as music supervisor, arranger and orchestrator for the long-running, 2008 Tony Award nominated Best Musical, Rock of Ages (Broadway, Toronto, US Tour, Australia, London), for which he also co-produced the highly acclaimed Original Broadway Cast Recording. His work as music supervisor on the recent Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Neil Patrick Harris helped garner the show a 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, and as music supervisor for the Broadway world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock the show garnered a 2016 Tony Award nomination for Best Musical.
Ethan has also served as the music director of the US Tour of Forever Plaid, and as Associate Music Director of the Mexico City production of Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes.
While living in Europe from 2001 through 2005, Ethan conducted the German premiere of Mamma Mia!, Disney’s Aida, and Queen’s We Will Rock You.
His work on film can be heard on 20th Century Fox’s The Greatest Showman (starring Hugh Jackman) for which he served as Music Director and Music Production Supervisor as well as the recent 20th Century Fox hit Bohemian Rhapsody, where he served as piano and vocal coach to 2019 Best Actor Oscar Award winner Rami Malek. On television, Ethan has served as a music producer, arranger, and orchestrator on NBC/Universal’s Smash and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Ethan’s upcoming work includes serving as Music Supervisor, Arranger and Orchestrator for the musical stage adaptation of the classic 20th Century Fox film Mrs. Doubtfire.
