Orlando Repertory Theatre's (Orlando REP) Youth Academy is wrapping up their run of the Summer Stock production, Li'l Abner. Remaining performances are July 25 - 28, with both evening and matinee showtimes available. This production is is presented by arrangement with TAMS-WITMARK.
A fun-filled, foot-stompin' musical taken directly from the classic comic strip, Li'l Abner is laced with gentle and knowing satire, rib-tickling gags, and a host of brash, catchy tunes. World-famous characters populate this upbeat show in a delightful mixture of hillbilly nonsense and sharp, critical humor.
A Broadway hit in 1956, the show won two Tony Awards and celebrates the denizens of Dogpatch USA and their customs, such as the not-to-be-missed Sadie Hawkins Day Race. Orlando REP's production is directed by Jennifer Adams, musical directed by Robby Stamper, choreographed by Lindsey D. Smith, and proudly presents a live orchestra for all performances. Scenic design by Joe C. Klug, lighting by Alyx Jacobs, costumes by Angelica Trombo, sound by Anthony Narciso, and props by Tara Kromer provide a full, professionally-produced production starring members of the award-winning Youth Academy.
