Arguably Shakespeare’s most enduring classic, Romeo and Juliet is a story of love, loss, and the failings of generations, both young and old. In this queer forward retelling, we put the focus on not just one romance shattered by generational conflict, but three.
We believe that Shakespeare's plays were created to be timely, funny, and thought-provoking... and while the insurance people have said we can't allow you groundlings to throw tomatoes at us, audience participation and investment in classic theater is a cornerstone to our irreverence. We reject wholeheartedly the idea that Shakespeare should be enjoyed quietly. So come hoot, holler, drink, be merry, and even have the opportunity to submit ad lib lines to our actors!
Romeo and Juliet will be directed by Chris Godshall, and performed by Hunter Lustberg, Jake Weinheimer, Chase Lee, Ray Wilbur, Lucas Pasquier, Kathryn Taylor, Lisa LaGrande, Paulina Breeze, Caitlyn Alico Beckwith, Meshal Alsunaid, Jess Kelly, Emerson Reed, Dani Heslin, and Francis MacCall. The creative team includes Grace Terdoslavich, Laine Flores, Bethany Dellapolla, and Sean Coffey.
There will be an additional performance on June 21st at Summit Rock, in Central Park. Find out more at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/romeo-julliet-tickets-893788263757
