“Being Somebody” is a funny, hope-filled show starring the extraordinary Dr. Howard Mase, 89-year-old psychologist, and his recording artist/playwright/actor daughter, Marla Mase. Through masterful storytelling, music, and song, the talented duo takes us back in time to their formative years. Howard brings to life what it was like growing up as a skinny Jewish kid in Brooklyn’s post-war gleam of the 1940s, while Marla sings about holding fast to dreams in the gritty disco era of the 1970s. Together, this real-life father/daughter tour de force takes the audience on an emotionally charged, hilarious, coming-of-age journey that includes warring family members, emerging body parts, anxiety-provoking virginity, digestion, and family secrets. This inspiring show is a joyous reminder that we're never too old to be young and reminds us of those life moments that matter the most.
